About
i am glad you are here is an ongoing art and language project promoting mindfulness and gratitude through creative expression. Founded by Michelle Anne Harris in 2008, the project began as a personal postcard series—an expression of gratitude toward the teachers and peers who supported her during a 10-year journey to complete her undergraduate degree.
Over the years, i am glad you are here has evolved into an umbrella organization that includes Big Community Paper, a large scale paper pour project funded through the Leeway Foundation Art and Change grant, in collaboration with local community gardens, premiering Spring 2026 in Kensington, Philly, Penpals for Palestine! an international, experimental art and correspondence exchange, generously funded by the Velocity Fund, connecting youth in Philadelphia with youth in Palestine through postcards, zines, and shared creative dialogue. and ArtZine, a youth-centered art and language mobile workshop series held in bookstores and libraries, designed for young people and their families.
We are excited to announce the opening of our youth and family community experimental community workshop for Penpals for Palestine! Clubhouse in Olde Kensington, along with our Children's Community Art and Language Library, opening in the fall of 2026.
